Here is the Avion side-rider supply box for the Peterson preamp - in a range of colors and logos. But the commonality between them all is that they enable you to use your original Peterson preamp with convenient connections and low noise. It gives you the cable interface as well as the power supply for a complete package that’s ready to go direct in the studio or save your back when you load on stage.

Another note: Often times people will send in their preamp for service via our mail-in program and order a side-rider box to return back with it. We really like doing things this way as we know we’re sending back a complete working pair.
As a corollary word of caution: Often times when the preamp voltage regulation circuit fails in the original Peterson suitcase it will fail in such way that it delivers 35-40V to the preamp instead of 25V. Unsurprisingly this is not great for the preamp. So while this side-rider unit can provide very stable 25V to your preamp, it’s good to evaluate the suitcase supply as well to be aware of and get ahead of any potential damage already inflicted. Power supply: We use a high quality power supply, fully tested and burned in. Most importantly it is housed in an independent enclosure. The biggest benefit of our design over other models is a very old concept in audio engineering - keep the AC away from the audio signal. And that's what we did. We put 3 feet of shielded cable between them.
The power supply has a number of built-in protection circuits and we go one step further by adding a fast-blow fuse as a fail-safe. The power switch is mounted on the distribution box for ease of use and limiting the wear on lamps and the circuit in general.
Distribution box: We wanted to make something attractive but also unobtrusive. It clips neatly and securely to the side of your Rhodes. The clip is heavy duty nylon/plastic so you don't scratch your tolex! We used a right angle gx16 threaded port to introduce the DC power supply. To ensure a perfect connection we sourced the best 4-Pin plug in production today. The right-angled plug and the short distance around the corner to the box keeps your keyboard unobstructed.
The outputs are dual-mono unless engaged with the vibrato in which case they will correctly produce the stereo pulse of that effect. Both outputs are American Switchcraft 1/4" jacks.
Testing: We compared our Peterson Power Supply to both original power/distribution and aftermarket supplies and it was by far the quietest.
All the connections are hand soldered with high-quality solder on professional equipment using the best parts available. Even something as simple as the clips are carefully affixed and then aligned before riveting to account for any variation from the manufacturer. We're proud to offer the RPPS as a better choice for studio, stage and budget.
