A direct drop-in replacement for MkII suitcase preamps. Replacing the Janus model active preamp on MkII rails and utilizing the orignal 5-pin XLR format. This allows you to use the existing suitcase amp and cable while adding improved sound quality and features. Here’s a quick rundown of the main features:

The Janus preamp, while being an advance into the world of op-amps, still left a lot of room for improvement. So with the benefit of some 50-odd years we’ve made a preamp which can utilize the existing amplifier while upgrading the quality and flexibilty of the preamp. Like the rest of our preamps - there is no compromise in component or design quality. The price reflects our desire to offer affordable products to as many players as possible as well as our ability to manufacture efficiently - right here in the USA!

For those of you who might have MkII rail but are either missing the suitcase or have passive stage model. We also have a model which will work for you - adapting our side rider box to serve as the power supply and output. It can be found here.

Note: We have refurbished hundreds of original Janus preamps, mainly through our mail-in service, and we will continue to work on them. There are ways to improve them slightly and for some people this will still be a great option.
